3D Model Spotlight – 3D Fantasy Knight

Monday, December 14th, 2009 by

Exclusive TurboSquid seller zivcg published a new model last week, and everyone here at TurboSquid was very impressed. The quality is really top-notch, and definitely worth featuring in our 3D Model Spotlight series. The purchase also includes the knight’s shield and sword, and zivcg has created both “clean” and “damaged” versions of his armor.

TurboSquid and Mixamo Partnership

Thursday, December 10th, 2009 by

A new partnership between TurboSquid and Mixamo was just announced a few days ago – you can read the full details in the press release. Mixamo offers a very cool online animation service that allows you to purchase royalty-free, production-quality 3D character animations at a fraction of what they would cost to create. What’s more is that these motions can be custom tailored right on their site, with the motion playing so you can see the effects of your changes immediately. Want a character to crouch lower, or creep slower than the default? Then just dial in the settings you want and see the result instantly! They’ve already got a robust library of existing animation data, and are busily expanding it.

TurboSquid is now in the process of certifying certain character models that we sell as “Mixamo ready.”  If you do a keyword search on TurboSquid for “Mixamo”, you’ll see which characters have already been certified.  These are all guaranteed to work with any of the Mixamo animations so that you can be assured of a good user experience from start to finish. We will be certifying more models in concert with the Mixamo team in the coming weeks and months so check back often.

For more information on how the process works, check out the Mixamo information page on TurboSquid!

TurboSquid Named #1 3D Model Site

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009 by

We were notified earlier this week that the independent uber-review site TopTenReviews has again named TurboSquid as the gold standard for stock 3D marketplace sites.  Like the links from Autodesk that we mentioned before, this is another big way for us to get exposure with new potential users.  TopTenReviews’ motto is “we do the research so you don’t have to”, and we love that their research has again placed us atop the rankings.

Every day we look for ways to improve our customers’ and sellers’ experiences, and it’s great to be recognized for our dedication. We’d like to thank all our visitors for their continued support of  TurboSquid all these years. We’re here because of you, and we never forget it!

Autodesk Adds Links to TurboSquid

Autodesk just added links to TurboSquid on several of their main application pages.  Here’s a cropped screenshot of our logo and link on the Maya product page:

This might not seem like a huge deal, but it’s something that we’re very excited about.  Having our logo directly on the Autodesk 3ds Max, Maya, and Softimage pages is a big win for both TurboSquid and our community of sellers.  Every potential buyer of either of those products is being introduced to TurboSquid at the exact moment that they’re reviewing the application.  I get excited about the opportunities that presents – this is highly qualified potential traffic that might be learning about stock 3D for the first time.  Once they’re happy 3ds Max, Maya, or Softimage owners and they need some models, they know exactly where to go!

3D Model Spotlight – Cyberius

Friday, November 6th, 2009 by

I enjoy flipping through recently published models to look for models to highlight, because it gives you an idea just how varied the selection on TurboSquid really is.  I’m going to do my best to select a different style of model for as long as I can – I don’t think I’ll be running out of ideas any time soon.  ;)

Giimann is an exclusive TurboSquid seller, and he’s one of the top stock 3D artists in the world.  He’s just published a new robot model, and it really highlights why he is one of the best.   I really like the sleek black look of the robot – it’s a nice change of pace from the white humanoid robots featured in “I, Robot.”

Giimann has included several nice looking previews, including shots of the wireframe, rig and untextured model.  As we’ve mentioned to sellers before, including additional shots of your models is key to boosting sales.

Here’s a preview shot of Cyberius:
