Our new homepage features a festive snow globe made by TurboSquid artist C4DmodelSHOP. We caught up with this versatile artist in France, where he lives and works as a CINEMA4D artist, to ask him a few questions about his work.
Q: When did you start 3D modeling?
Fifteen years ago I was studying architecture, and I got interested in using 3D software to help me draw perspectives. I used Amapi and Ray Dream Designer for a while, then moved toward CINEMA4D. I think it provides a very intuitive interface.
Now, I’m a full-time freelancer doing 3D illustrations for advertising agencies in France. My work is my passion. Lately I’ve been getting into organic modeling, which is a new step for me.
Q: Tell us about the snow globe.
I decided to make the snow globe 3D model specifically for Turbosquid. The only references for this project were my childhood memories and my imagination. My intention was to translate the magic of Christmas.
Q: We see that you have many different types of 3D models. How do you decide what to make?
I have really no rules about my choices. That’s what I like about starting a new 3D model: I am free with my choice. It’s just according to my moods and desires. Sometimes I start a 3D model and later, I’ve had enough of working on it. So the best that I can do is to stop working on it and move to another project, then go back to it later. In fact, my motto is: do what pleases me when I want.
Q: Tell us about your experience with CheckMate.
CheckMate is represented by very professional people. I am convinced that CheckMate is a very good thing for 3D artists. It helps boost sales, but it also highlights our work as 3D artists. These days, when I start a new 3D model I have CheckMate in the back of my mind. My objective is to provide quality in 3D modeling, and CheckMate corresponds to my objective.
Thank you! We’re looking forward to seeing more of your fine work soon.
