TurboSquid has a new type of license available that allows artists to sell 3D models previously unavailable at TurboSquid. Following in the footsteps of stock photography websites like Shutterstock and Getty Images, TurboSquid is introducing an Editorial License agreement. This type of license allows the sale of content with trademarked logos and designs to news-related outlets.
The Editorial License opens up our catalog to a much larger selection of items. This policy gives news outlets like CNN, ABC News, CBS News, NBC News, USA Today, and hundreds of other companies access to even more of our community’s creative work.
We’ve updated our End User License Agreement to reflect these changes. You can read more about it on the Editorial License info page or FAQ.
Publishing Editorial Content
To publish an item using the Editorial License, choose the Editorial Royalty Free option under the new Product License section in the Publisher, under Step 1.
If you select the Standard Royalty Free option, and then under Step 3 you enter a tag that has an existing DMCA complaint and/or takedown notice filed with TurboSquid, you will be advised that an Editorial Royalty Free license might be appropriate for your product. You will also see a link to our current list of restricted words. If you choose the Editorial license in Step 1, this message does not appear.
Publishers are invited to re-publish any content that was previously taken down or blocked from TurboSquid before the Editorial license was available.
Content Previously Taken Down
Content that was taken down previously might be appropriate to republish under the Editorial license. Please note that some tags might have further restrictions under the Editorial license in the future and will require review in such a case, although right now there aren’t any restrictions.
Questions
If you have any questions, please read more about it on the Editorial License info page or FAQ, or contact TurboSquid support.
