Artist Spotlight: HD_Ready

TurboSquid Artists, Featured Artists, Site

We were so impressed with the hovercraft 3D model made by TurboSquid artist HD_Ready that we just had to put it on our homepage. With its many accurate details and realistic textures, this model is a welcome addition to our expanding CheckMate Pro catalog.

We asked HD_Ready a few questions about the hovercraft model, his work, and his experiences with CheckMate Certification.

Artist HD_Ready

How long have you been an artist?

I’ve been an artist as long as I can remember. My professional work started in 2004. I was very happy to get to a place with a lot of fanatics like me with the same hobbies.

What’s most important when making 3D models?

Attention to detail. An artist should be interested in achieving best final result for the job. Even if an artist isn’t going to render his model, he should imagine the final look when someone else renders it.

How do you decide what to model?

I always look for interesting constructions and shapes, or hi-tech items.

What has been your experience with CheckMate?

I’ve submitted my best models to CheckMate. I would like to do more but it takes a lot of time, sometimes even more than modeling itself! I have written several scripts for automating this process, and I plan to participate in the CheckMate Tools Contest to share my experience with community. It would be amazing if TurboSquid team would provide more tools for checking errors and even for file format conversion.

Tell us more information about the 3D model. What was your inspiration?

When I observed this LCAC hovercraft for the first time, I got very excited. I was impressed by fantastic effect that occurs when an air cushion runs over water.  I saw fancy splashes coming out of its nozzles and cushion, and I realized I could simulate some of these effects. So this work was interesting not only for the huge amount of detail, but it also gave me a lot of fun afterward.

Thank you, HD_Ready! We look forward to seeing more of your work soon.
