Metal Hammer Golden Gods Returns with More Metal, More Models

by Kate Voisin

It’s that time of the year again!  The Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards for 2013 are ready to roll, and this year, their amazing 3D promo video is featuring even more models from TurboSquid.

While last year’s video cruised the desert, this year, the most metal awards show on the planet takes to the skies with some of our realistic planes.  This amazing piece was designed around the music of the legendary Motorhead, who are headlining the live show on June 17th.

The featured models include:

Lesser Demon by Darkseal

North American P-51D by Panaristi

Chance Vought F4U Corsair by Panaristi

B-17G Flying Fortress by Mesh Factory

Landscape Snowy Alaska by 3D_Multimedia

Minigun by EvilEFC

“We only ever use TurboSquid for our models,” says Trevor Witt, Head of Multimedia for Future Publishing, Ltd. (Metal Hammer’s publisher).  To which we humbly reply – “We’re honored”.And among this year’s Golden Gods honorable nominees are:

  • Best New Band:
Bleed From Within, Bury Tomorrow, Crossfaith, Thy Art Is Murder, and Upon a Burning Body
  • Best UK Band:
Bring Me the Horizon, Motorhead, Paradise Lost, Black Sabbath, and Bullet For My Valentine
  • Best International Band:
Five Finger Death Punch, Deftones, Parkway Drive, Down, and Stone Sour
  • Dimebag Darrell Shredder:
Paul Waggoner (Between the Buried and Me), Eric Calderone (YouTube Guy), Andy James (Sacred Mother Tongue), Fredrik Akesson (Opeth), and Johan Soderberg and Olavi Mikkonen (Amon Amarth)

And, of course, the ‘Golden God’ Award is the biggest and most prestigious award of the night, and its recipient will be guaranteed to define the word “legend”.Voting ends on May 31, so to cast your vote (and maybe win a pair of tickets to the show at London’s Indigo2, featuring Motorhead, Five Dinger Death Punch, Coal Chamber, and more), visit their site at:  http://goldengods.metalhammer.co.uk/.
