Greetings from the SIGGRAPH 2011 Exhibition

by Michele Bousquet

While at SIGGRAPH it’s always a delight to visit the exhibition portion of the conference. Today, Jonathan Lloyd and I traversed the show floor looking to find out about new and exciting developments in the 3D industry. The chance to reconnect with colleagues is an added bonus, not to mention the visual feast that awaits all attendees.

We visited several booths including Autodesk, Digital Domain, NVIDIA, and 3D World. At the Pixar booth, the official news was the release of Renderman for Maya 5.0, but the playfully decorative booth design was all about Cars 2.

We also got a chance to connect with the folks from SCAD  (Savannah College of Art and Design). Since they produce 3D artists, we always consider them our friends. Plus, they’re pretty excited about CheckMate, which naturally makes us happy.

Tonight we’re off to hobnob with 100 of our closest friends at the CGArchitect party. More photos to come!
