TurboSquid Affiliate Links – Part 1

Paul Teall 3D Modeling, Site

Did you know you could be making an additional 15-20% on each sale?  Making money even when your product isn’t the one purchased?

We launched an affiliate program in September, which gives you the opportunity to earn extra cash by linking back to TurboSquid.  In this post, I’m going to go over some of the basics involved with setting up affiliate links.

Any sales that are generated from new traffic that you send to TurboSquid (for any items sold – not just your own) earn you a commission.  You get 20% if you’re a member of the SquidGuild, and 15% if you’re not.  That’s on top of your standard royalty rate if the products sold belong to you.

Even if you’re doubtful about increasing direct sales, affiliate links will also help with your products’ SEO, which definitely affects sales.  I’ll get into SEO specifics when I do part 2 of the series.

GETTING STARTED

Setting up affiliate links is easy – you can point to ANY page on TurboSquid.  Remember, any sale that’s generated from a new customer earns you money.  You need to add one small snippet of code to any link.  My member name is ThePza, so to link to the home page (https://www.turbosquid.com/) I would add:

https://www.turbosquid.com/?referral=ThePza

The Marketing Materials page includes more specific details, sample images, and example links with your member name already setup as the affiliate.

WHERE TO PUT LINKS

If you’ve got your own site, then the answer is obvious.  If you don’t, there’s still plenty of places that you can put affiliate links.  A simple “My 3D Models at TurboSquid” link can be added many places.  Here are some suggestions:

  • E-mail signature
  • Forum signature (outside of TurboSquid) – shows up every time you post!
  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Youtube – upload a video of your model and link back to its product page
  • Blog

TRACKING RESULTS

You can see any traffic or sales that your affiliate links are generating in the Reports interface.  “Affiliate Reports” is at the bottom of the page, and allows you to see both clickthroughs and sales.  Remember, only users without a pre-exisitng TurboSquid cookie will show up in your reports.
